About the History of Olives.
The olive tree has formed an indispensable part of all civilizations established in the Mediterranean at every stage of history. Olive’s homeland is Southeastern Anatolia, but over time, it spread to the world, first along the Mediterranean coast and then to Asia and America. Olives have been used not only as an important food item for the people of the world, but also as a health and beauty elixir and a source of light. It also became the basis of trade in Mediterranean civilizations. Oil is obtained from olives, and it is among the information that has survived to this day that the first method used for this purpose in the world was to first crush the olives with the foot and then remove the oil with hot water. Later, humanity discovered the method of crushing the olive between two stones. This method is still used today, although to a lesser extent. However, hydraulic presses are now used for this work and their work is done with electricity or diesel. Now the most modern system, that is, continuous facilities, has been adopted.
